Dear District Band Directors:

 

Thank you for nominating your students for the 2009 Middle Level Honor Band.  You have sent in over 160 names for the honor band and I think we have great instrumentation.  Please let me know if any of the names on this list are spelled incorrectly.  This is the same file I will use for the program and want to make sure it is correct.

 

Students need to bring their music and a pencil with them on January 17th.  If there are problems with the music I gave out on Saturday, please send me an email so we can get it fixed.

 Dear SEKMEA Middle Level Band Directors:

 

    I hope your year is off to a great start!  The deadline for middle level band nominees is only a month away!  Nominations are due on Friday, October 17th and I wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect for the honor band this year.

 

    Our clinician is Mr. Todd Hollis from Augusta.  Todd is currently the President elect for the south-central district and teaches beginning band and high school band for the Augusta school district.  He has chosen music at an easy Grade II level for the band which I believe will be adaptable to all schools in our district.  The music keeps the clarinets mostly under the break and all instruments within an octave.  Please keep this in consideration when choosing the students you wish to nominate.  Students should be strong, independent leaders in your program that will practice the music before they arrive in January. 

 

    Nominations can be sent by mail or email.  The form can be used to explain the ability of each of your students or you can email me a list of names/instruments and rank them.  Information about solo ability is also helpful.  I will not accept any names past the deadline, as it keeps me from getting music out to everyone else.  Please remember, if you forget to fill out the form and mail it in, just send an email to me by the 15th and that will work.  Music will be handed out on Nov. 8th at high school district band auditions.  Any director that will not be attending auditions will receive their music in the mail.
